The final battle

So on Sunday evening I  tried to track down the fourth transmitter - take out that, and the whole system would be disabled. We knew it would be turning up somewhere in the VIP area, so I tried to get a dozen or so of you back there to help out.

But before I could, I spotted someone carrying a black box that looked a bit like the other transmitters we'd seen. This is what happened next:

All very hectic towards the end with everything moving so fast, but it couldn't have finished in a more appropriate place - in the 'Angels' massage tent, cutting the red wire with scissors provided by one of the Angels themselves.

Of course, the search for the missing instruments continues. Mark Ronson's keyboard can be found today. Visit  for the lowdown. Looks like Cyrus is long gone, though.

And there's a shout out in the video to everyone who helped, but I want to repeat it here - THANK YOU so much to everyone on the ground and online, in the UK and beyond, who helped rescue the Big Weekend. I hope you enjoyed it. In a slightly manic way, I did too.

The hunt continues

I'm back in London - battered, knackered and happy it's all over. At least, the hardest part is over.

Trouble is, Cyrus managed to nick a handful of instruments belonging to bands at the Big Weekend. You need to track them down - and if you find them, you can keep them.

Today, we've got a lead on where The Gossip's bass guitar has gone. See if you can find it - it could be yours!

There are going to be more instruments from amazing bands surfacing every day this week:

* Tuesday - Mark Ronson's keyboard
* Wednesday - Kasabian's drum
* Thursday - the Scissor Sisters' tamborine
* Friday - the Kaiser Chiefs' guitar

Now go get them!

We did it!

After four weeks, break-ins, sackings, beatings, broadcasts and whole load of videos, we made it - the Big Weekend is safe.

We got the fourth transmitter. I had a close encounter with Cyrus which is going to take me a while to get over, but we got there. Project Frozen Indigo Angel is over. Violet is over the moon too, so thank from her as well - we couldn't have done it without you.

Here's a personal thank you from me:

Cyrus has done a runner, by the looks of it - a few people have told me that he was seen leaving the site in a van full of kit - but if that guy crosses my path again, I'll be ready for him.

Right now, I just want to celebrate, relax, and watch some bands.

You were fantastic. Thank you all!

Two down, two to go

Two transmitters down, two to go: about an hour ago, we disabled the second transmitter. Pretty good going, but we have to do the same to two more of them to destroy Cyrus's mind control device. I'll twitter as soon as I get the next message from Violet. Be ready.

Get ready

Violet has worked out a way of telling when each transmitter goes into position - then we have to get to it quick. And cut the red wire. And do that four times, before the end of the day. Sounds easy. We'll see how it works in practice.

It's all happening

Day two. We have about eight hours to track down the transmitters. We know where they'll be - just not when. Violet reckons she'll be able to tell us the moment each one goes into position, so we're depnding on her - and then she's relying on us to take those devices out.

I'll Twitter any info as I get it. Keep an eye on your phones if you're here on the ground.

Here's a bit of me:

And relax

Right - thank you EVERYONE for your work today - we've got the map and I'm pretty sure we've triangulated the eventual locations of the transmitters. But they're not there. I've been round and checked the places on the ground - there's just nothing odd there.

All I can think is that we've found where the transmitters need to be at some key point. And I expect that's tomorrow. Violet has some ideas about what that time (or those times) will be, so I'll try to get more details from here.

So - looks like we're at a dead end for today. We're half-way there. Tomorrow, we'll try and get those transmitters at the right time and nail Cyrus. Fingers crossed. Enjoy the music. Sleep well.

In April and May 2007, I claimed there was a cover-up at the BBC to do with the words 'Frozen Indigo Angel'. It was all part of an Alternate Reality Game run by Radio 1 and the guys behind Perplex City - in fact, I encountered a character or two from Perplex City myself.

During the game, we gave away tickets to the Big Weekend, musical instruments belonging to major bands, and introduced thousands of people to a whole new world. All for free.

If you'd like to re-live the adventure, check out my first video, and then watch the rest.
